Safety

The Mustang GTD has standard front seat side-impact airbags and head airbags, which act as a forgiving barrier between the passengers and the door. Combined with high-strength steel door beams this system increases protection from broadside collisions. The Tourbillon doesn't offer side-impact airbags or side airbag protection for the head.

The Mustang GTD has standard Pre-Collision Assist, which use forward mounted sensors to warn the driver of a possible collision ahead. If the driver doesn’t react and the system determines a collision is imminent, it automatically applies the brakes at full-force in order to reduce the force of the crash or avoid it altogether. The Tourbillon doesn't offer collision warning or crash mitigation brakes.

The Mustang GTD has standard Post Collision Braking, which automatically apply the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Tourbillon doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

The Mustang GTD’s lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane and gently nudges the vehicle back towards its lane. The Tourbillon doesn’t offer a lane departure warning system.

The Mustang GTD’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Tourbillon doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the Mustang GTD and the Tourbillon have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding and rearview cameras.

Warranty

Ford’s powertrain warranty covers the Mustang GTD 1 year longer than Bugatti covers the Tourbillon. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Coverage on the Tourbillon ends after only 4 years.

There are almost 201 times as many Ford dealers as there are Bugatti dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Mustang GTD’s warranty.

Reliability

The Tourbillon’s redline is at 9000 RPM, which causes more engine wear, and a greater chance of a catastrophic engine failure. The Mustang GTD has a 7650 RPM redline.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Mustang GTD has larger front tires than the Tourbillon (F:325/30R20 & R:345/30R20 vs. F:285/35R20 & R:345/30R21).

The Mustang GTD’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Tourbillon’s standard 35 series front tires.

Suspension and Handling

The Mustang GTD has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Tourbillon doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

Ergonomics

The Mustang GTD has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Tourbillon doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

With standard SYNC, the Mustang GTD offers the driver hands free control of the radio, climate controls and the navigation computer by simply speaking. The Tourbillon doesn’t offer a voice control system.

The Mustang GTD is equipped with both FM and AM stereo radios, offering access to more content and better coverage than the Tourbillon, which solely provides FM radio. With AM radio, you can enjoy a wider variety of stations featuring news, talk shows, sports commentary, native language programing, automated traffic guidance, and emergency broadcasts. AM waves travel further and penetrate buildings and obstacles more effectively than FM signals, especially at night. Having both FM and AM stereo radios the Mustang GTD offers a more comprehensive listening experience compared to only FM in the Tourbillon.

HD Radio boasts several benefits over conventional radio: superior sound quality with clearer and consistent FM broadcasts, CD-quality audio, and Multicast Channels offering up to four streams from a single station, adding programming choices. Cars like the Mustang GTD equipped with HD Radio provide an improved in-car entertainment experience. The Tourbillon, devoid of this technology, foregoes these benefits. Selecting the Ford Mustang GTD empowers drivers to enjoy a more immersive and enjoyable listening experience while on the go.
